Seeking individuals for our 2012 Field Crew (May through October). Duties include seeding, transplanting, cultivation, harvest, and post harvest cleaning/packing. Crew members will also assist with CSA box packing as necessary. Experience preferred but will consider individuals without experience who have the right combination of other desired skills; strong work ethic, great attitude, timeliness, dependability, and desire to learn organic farming techniques. Culinary Internship
Harvest Moon Farms is seeking a culinary intern for the 2012 season. We are a certified organic produce farm specializing in heirloom vegetable production. We market our products throughout Chicago to wholesale accounts, restaurants, caterers, and through our Community Supported Agriculture program. The farm is located in southwest Wisconsin. Potential candidates should be interested in learning about organic and sustainable agriculture, marketing/media, event preparation and planning, community outreach and education. Must possess strong communication skills, both written and oral. This seasonal position reports to the Farm Manager and runs from June through September.
Duties will include
- Ability to work 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday 9 to 4 but hours may fluctuate
- Preparation of staff meals Monday through Friday for a staff of 25 using farm products including animal proteins
- Maintaining kitchen budgeting, ordering, inventory, and sanitation
- Contributing to weekly newsletter, blog, and Social Media content
- Recipe and product development
- Participation in farm to table, community outreach, and educational events
- Food preservation (canning, pickling, etc)
- Food preservation and preparation classes for CSA members

Compensation
- $750 monthly stipend plus hourly wage for off farm/special events
